Description: CD22 is a member of the SIGLEC family of lectins, mediating B-cell B-cell interactions through binding to sialylated glycoproteins; one of which is CD45.It preferentially binds to alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid. CD22 functions as an inhibitory receptor for B cell receptor (BCR) signaling that prevents the overactivation of the immune system and the development of autoimmune diseases. It also involves in the B cell trafficking to Peyer's patches in mice.
